Technical Trainer

Job description

The Technical Trainer will help design, develop, and deliver high-quality short technical training courses in the low carbon (renewable) and / or construction sector for our clients.

This role is crucial in ensuring that our course delivery and content is the best available and exceeds our customers expectations.

The Technical Trainer will contribute to the organization’s success by creating, updating and delivering effective training courses across our existing and new client base.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Training Program Development:
    • Deliver and develop technical training courses and materials tailored to the needs of the audience, including presentations, e-learning modules, and interactive content with support from our design and content team.
    • Ensure that training programs are up-to-date with the latest technologies, industry standards, and company practices.
    • Customize training content based on feedback from stakeholders and assessment of training needs.
    • Create bespoke training solutions for our clients based on their needs and defined outcomes.
  2. Training Delivery:
    • Deliver engaging and effective technical training sessions in mainly face to face sessions.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to accommodate different learning styles and ensure knowledge retention.
    • Facilitate hands-on exercises, demonstrations, and practical applications to reinforce learning objectives.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, feedback, and performance metrics.
    • Adjust training approaches based on evaluation results to continuously improve training effectiveness.
  4. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with subject matter experts, technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content.
    • Collaborate with management and team leaders to identify training needs and develop solutions that address skill gaps and performance issues.
    • Provide support and guidance to participants during training to ensure successful application of knowledge and skills.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Work with the administration team to provide accurate records of training activities, including participant attendance, feedback, and assessment results.
    • Prepare and present summaries on training outcomes, effectiveness, and areas for improvement to management.
    • Ensure all training materials and documentation are organized, updated, and accessible.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay current with industry trends, technological developments, and best practices in training and development.
    • Seek feedback from participants and stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhancing training programs and delivery methods.
    • Implement innovative training techniques and tools to enhance learning experiences and outcomes.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Time served trade (mechanical, electrical or construction related) ideally with a background on low carbon technologies.
  • Relevant qualifications in training or assessing are ideal but not essential.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a technical trainer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of technical concepts and high quality delivery .
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in the use of training tools and technologies.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and great written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Presentation Skills: Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple training projects and priorities efficiently, with strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to assess training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and make decisions to improve training outcomes.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of low carbon / renewable technologies, systems, and products.
  • Familiarity with short course delivery and adult learning principles.
  • Experience with development and / or adaptation of training materials.
