This Unvented Hot Water Systems and Safety Course course is aimed at experienced domestic heating installers and/or plumbers who require a qualification in the installation, servicing and maintenance of domestic hot water systems. It is also a prerequisite for those looking to expand into solar thermal installation.

It has been developed to ensure operatives comply with Approved Document G (ADG) 2010 (as updated) when carrying out work on hot water systems and is recognised by Competent Persons Schemes (CPS)

Training includes requirements for the installation of G3 Unvented Hot Water Systems and covers systems up to 500 litres capacity and 45kW power input.

If you are new to the field, assessment is through a multiple-choice question paper, short written response paper and basic practical tasks.

If you are taking this qualification as a re-assessment, you will complete the multiple-choice question paper only.

On completion of the course, you will receive a certificate from LCL Awards.

Pre-requisites

To enrol on this course, you must:

  • be experienced in the installation of domestic cold and hot water systems. 
  • hold one recognised competency in a conventional fuel, for example, gas, oil or solid fuel. Or alternatively, for those working in the plumbing sector, an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification or experience. 
  • have a basic knowledge of the WRAS Water (fittings) Regulations and be familiar with Approved Document G of the Building Regulations

Training, assessment, certification and course materials are included in the price.

The course consists of 1 day in-centre training. 

Successful candidates will receive their LCL Awards certificate approximately four to six weeks following completion of the course.
