This Air Source Heat Pump Installation Course delivers the knowledge, skills and competency required to design, specify, install, commission and maintain domestic and small commercial air source heat pumps.

At the end of the three-days, candidates will undertake a practical, observed assignment and multiple-choice, open-book theory assessment.
On completion of this course, you will receive an LCL Awards Level 3 Certificate, which is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
To enrol on this course, you must have one of the following vocational qualifications:
Learners that do not hold a vocational qualification as detailed above , can evidence their experience by registration with; Gas Safe Register (CENWAT), OFTEC (OFT10-105E or OFT15-108W), MCS (Heat Pump or Solar Thermal Hot Water) or HETAS (H004). Learners not holding any of the above qualification may be eligible via an RPL assessment.

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) are the primary heating technology that will enable the UK to meet its decarbonisation targets, offering key business opportunities for heating installers now and in the future. The government has pledged to deliver 600,000 heat pumps a year by 2028, rising to 1.9 million by 2035.
An air source heat pump (ASHP) extracts heat from the outdoor air and transfers it indoors, warming water to provide central heating and hot water. Heat pumps use technology similar to that found in a refrigerator or air conditioner, essentially in reverse, compressing and expanding refrigerant to absorb and release heat energy.
Heat pumps are powered by electricity and are at least three times more efficient than a gas boiler. Some heat pumps can also be used for cooling, but these are not commonly found in UK homes.

Servicing intervals may vary but are often recommended annually.
