Our brand-new commercial solar panel installation & design course is the first of its kind. We designed it for professionals involved in the planning, delivery, and management of large-scale commercial solar installations.

Course information

The course is suitable for electricians looking to expand into commercial PV. However, consultants, facilities managers, investors, or developers who need technical understanding but won't be installing systems can also take part. The assessment at the end of the course is tailored to your background. Installers will take a technical assessment, while non-installers will complete a knowledge-based assessment.

The training you will receive during this course includes:

  • Props showing different types of modules, inverters, and roof mounting kits.

Everything you need to know about:

  • project planning
  • design & array layout
  • solar software
  • health and safety
  • monitoring and maintenance

At the end of the 2-days, you will complete an assessment tailored to your experience: technical for installers and electricians, or knowledge-based for other candidates.

Installers, electricians, and electro technically competent candidates will take a technical-based assessment.

All other candidates who have an interest in Commercial Solar will take a knowledge-based assessment. 

This course is carried out by expert tutors and is endorsed by LCL Awards.

FAQs

There will be 2 different assessments based on existing technical skills

Electricians and installers who will take the technical assessment, you must hold the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Award in the Requirements for BS7671 (Current Edition) 

And one of the following: 

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Building, Structures and the Environment)
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
  • Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification
  • Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
  • Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification
  • Building Services Engineering (Level 3) Electrotechnical Installations Qualification
  • SVQ in Electrical Installations at SCQF Level 7 

For others, such as building managers and infrastructure managers, there will be a knowledge-based assessment. There are no pre-requisites for those candidates.

This is a 2-day in-centre training course, endorsed by LCL Awards.

Technically skilled and non-technical candidates will sit the same course with a different assessment at the end.
