Course information

This OFTEC50 Oil-fired Introductory training course is a practical course designed for new entrants with no previous experience or qualifications. It is designed to provide a solid background in oil-fired heating to anyone who wants to carry out work on domestic oil-fired installations and includes a work experience element.

During the course, you will receive practical training, including work on:

  • Purpose-built oil heating rigs; and
  • Live equipment within a fully functioning plant room.

You will also cover theory relating to health & safety, industry regulations and best-practice.

Before taking the OFTEC assessment, you will be required to obtain work experience with an OFTEC registered business that is willing to provide an auditable extended oil training programme incorporating both ‘on’ and ‘off the job’ components with organisational support.

On completion of the course, candidates will be ready to undertake relevant OFTEC training and assessment in the installation and maintenance of oil-fired appliances. We offer a combined boiler maintenance course which offers the three main OFTEC certificates - OFT10-101, OFT10-105E and OFT10-600A.
