This Emergency First Aid at Work training course delivers the knowledge and confidence to deal with incidents requiring medical assistance within the workplace. It is aimed at anyone who requires a comprehensive first aid course, including nominated first aiders and those who provide support to qualified first aiders.
The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 impose a duty on employers to provide adequate and appropriate medical assistance to those taken ill at work, including all employees and self-employed workers.
The course combines theory with hands-on practical exercises. You will be assessed through a short multiple choice question paper and ongoing practical assessments.
On completion of the course, you will receive an FAIB Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, which is recognised by HSE and is valid for 3 years.

This Emergency First Aid at Work training course covers the following areas:
- The role of emergency first aider
- Up to date legislation
- Effective use of first aid equipment
- Understanding the chain of survival
- Incident management
- Dealing with unresponsive casualty – primary survey/secondary survey/recovery position/CPR
- How to be confident in administering first aid in a variety of situations
- The safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
You will also learn how to effectively help and administer first aid with the following:
- Common workplace injuries
- Choking
- Unconsciousness
- Shock
- Wounds and bleeding
- Seizures
- Minor injuries
- Catastrophic bleeding
