Domestic Energy Assessor Course

This 3-day training course provides the skills and accreditation required to survey residential buildings and produce accurate EPCs, ideal for those looking to start a successful business in residential energy rating.
Course information
This City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment (6361) is ideal for those with a basic understanding of domestic energy assessment who wish to extend their knowledge, or candidates with an interest in energy efficiency who want work as an energy assessor in the construction sector.
The course consists of both theoretical and practical learning, with an assignment at the end of each day. There is also a practical assessment.
You will complete 1 EPC as part of the course, and you will need to arrange 4 additional energy assessments on a range of domestic properties to create a portfolio of work.
On completion of the course, you will receive a Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment from City & Guilds and be ready to practice as a Domestic Energy Assessor.

There are no pre-requisites, but it is helpful if you have a general understanding of the property and/or construction sector.
The completion of assignments and portfolios should take around 4-months. Additional charges may apply if this is not completed within 6 months of starting the course.

- 25m tape measure
- Ultra-sonic or laser distance measure
- Dust masks

The course consists of 3-days in-centre training. Assignments and portfolio work must be completed within 6 months.
Successful candidates will receive their City & Guilds certificate approximately four to six weeks following completion of the course.
The course is comprised of 4 mandatory and an optional unit, covering how to:
- Conduct energy assessments in a safe, effective and professional manner.
- Undertake Energy Inspections.
- Produce and issue energy performance certificates relating to domestic property.
- Identify representative properties for sampling.

An EPC is required by law when any building is sold or let in the UK. Accredited Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) survey buildings collecting data on the dimensions, construction, heating and hot water provision, and produce EPCs using Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology.
