Low Temperature Heating Course Information

The Low Temperature Heating & Hot Water Systems in Dwellings course is designed for existing plumbing and heating engineers who need to understand how to install low temperature heating and hot systems in domestic properties, including heat pumps and modern gas boilers, in accordance with Part L of the Building Regulations. 

It is a classroom-based, design-focused course with no hands-on installation assessment.

Following completion of the training course candidates will be assessed with an online multiple choice knowledge examination.

On completion of this course, candidates will receive an LCL Awards Level 3 Certificate, which is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). 

FAQs

There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, however candidates should have knowledge of the industry and heating system design, and have worked within this or a similar sector previously.  

You will need to bring copies of the following books: 

Training, assessment, certification and all other course materials are included. 

To ensure full participation in the course, all required pre-requisite documents must be submitted and received no later than 7 (seven) calendar days prior to the course start date.

Successful candidates will receive their LCL Awards certificate approximately four to six weeks following completion of the course.

New heating systems, whether renewable, electric, gas or oil, must be designed for flow-temperatures of no more than 55°C under Part L of the Building Regulations. Existing systems can also benefit from low temperature operation, increasing efficiency and cutting energy costs.
